| Home > Citizenship Troubles > Testimonials > War Bride Joan Reichardt What a mess! I did not have a passport until 1975 and it was a rigamorole to get it - one thing they wanted was our marriage certificate and then my husband had to prove he was a citizen. He had been naturalized on his fathers papers in the late 20's (he was born in Holland) and we had quite a time finding those papers. Given that he had served in the Canadian Army overseas for four years it was a bit late to worry about his citizenship. I am in the process of renewing my passport and they may not accept the document that has sufficed in the past - depending on who I speak with - apparently the large certificate which I have is 'iffy'. We shall see! Joan Reichardt , April 21, 2005 Other things you can do RIGHT NOW!
