This is the text of a letter that Lee McGuire sent to Members of Parliament and Senators on April 29, 2005

"What we then thought  was an isolated incidence of bureaucratic ineptitude was simply the tip of the iceberg." Lee McGuire

As a citizen of Canada, I am furious, totally furious, that thousands upon thousands of LEGITIMATE  Canadian citizens are being denied access to passports. Shocked and appalled  is no understatement. These people have worked, paid taxes, voted and contributed to the economy while helping to build the  country into what it is today,  for 60 years in some cases. Now they are told they are NOT citizens! Give me a break?   By Privy Council Order in Council 7318 they are.

WHY in heavens name should they have to go through additional expense,  stress and turmoil to add additional proof to their claims for a passport -  60 years later in some cases.

Yes, I have a vested interest as my dear departed mother was a war bride and had to endure the stress of proving that she was in this country prior to 1948 (I  believe it was) in the 1970s. What we then thought  was an isolated incidence of bureaucratic ineptitude was simply the tip of the iceberg. This oversight needs to be immediately corrected.
